Opening the second session of the Maths 2025/2026 Phd Call

Six scholarships are available. Online application within June 9th, 2025

The Gran Sasso Science Institute has opened the second session of Mathematics in Natural, Social and Life Sciences 2025/2026 Call of PhD Fellowships. A total of six positions remain to be filled: deadline is fixed for June 9th, 2025, at 3 pm (Italian Time Zone).

The six positions are in addition to the 2 vacancies within the Math's area funded by the CardioTrials project (ERC - European Research Council funds) and the Holes in the heart: a fluid dynamics approach to atrial septal defects project (Prin funds). The deadline for the Cardiotrials and Holes in the Heart project is August 29th at 3 pm. For the year 2025/2026, the PhD curriculum in Mathematics in Natural, Social and Life Sciences at Gran Sasso Science Institute will count a total of 14 scholarships (8 open, 6 assigned).

The PhD Program is aimed at exposing the students not only to the more traditional aspects of this discipline, such as Partial Differential Equations, Mathematical Physics and Probability, but also to entirely new problems, requiring the development of the most appropriate tools to deal with the complexity, such as stochastic analysis and computational mathematics.

The curriculum consists of a 4-year programme (see Math Programme here).

The call for applications envisages a gross annual scholarship of €16,243; accommodation in the GSSI facilities or a substitute grant, board and other benefits. The application for admission must be filled out exclusively using the online procedure available on the GSSI website at www.gssi.it/phd/.

Applications received by other means will not be accepted.
